Capacity Strengthening
Institutions - Strengthening infrastructure to support malaria research
The Gates Malaria Partnership (GMP) was an eight year research and development programme made possible by an award from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to the Malaria Centre of the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. This award allowed us to devise an ambitious and innovative programme which prioritised extensive field-based research directed towards improved malaria control, closely linked to extended training and capacity development activities.
Establishing a consortium of European and African institutions was key to the success of the programme. This website provides valuable insight into the major research advances, the sustainable benefits from the extended training programmes and lessons learnt from a programme of this size and scale. We hope you find it helpful!
